The 188B Investor Provisional Visa (Investor Stream) is one of the three categories of the Australian Business Migration 188 visa. It is specifically designed for professionals engaged in various investment activities, such as stocks, futures, funds, and foreign exchange. The visa is valid for 5 years.

Unlike the 188A visa, applicants for the 188B visa are not required to own a business, but they must have relevant investment experience and demonstrate a track record of earning returns from their investments.

Upon receiving the visa, applicants must invest at least AUD 2.5 million in compliant managed funds and maintain the investment for a minimum of 3 years. (For applications submitted before July 1, 2021, the required investment amount was AUD 1.5 million, which needed to be invested in state government bonds for 4 years.)

To become eligible for the 888B Permanent Residency Visa, applicants must also meet certain residency requirements. Before applying for the 188B visa, they must submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) through the SkillSelect system and obtain a nomination from an Australian state or territory government.
