Eligibility Requirements
For the Child Applicant:
- Relationship Requirement – Must be the biological child, stepchild, or adopted child of the sponsor.
- Age Requirement:
- Under 18 years old – Must be single (unmarried, not engaged, and not in a de facto relationship).
- 18 to 25 years old – Must be single and financially dependent on the sponsor or a full-time student.
- Stepchild Eligibility – If the step-parent is legally responsible for the child after separating from the biological parent, the child may still be eligible.
- Adopted Child Eligibility – The adoption must have been finalized before the sponsor became an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
- Health Requirement – The child must meet Australian health standards.
For the Sponsor (Parent):
- Must be the child’s biological, step, or adoptive parent.
- Must be an Australian citizen, permanent resident, or eligible New Zealand citizen.
- Must have no criminal record involving children.
Additional Requirements (If the Child is Under 18):
- The sponsor must obtain written consent from all legal guardians of the child to allow migration.
- The laws of the child’s home country must permit overseas migration with the sponsor.
