About the Skills Assessment Authority
The Australian Children’s Education & Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) is the designated skills assessment authority in Australia responsible for overseeing and improving the quality of early childhood education. ACECQA evaluates overseas applicants seeking to work in early childhood education-related occupations in Australia. Whether you are applying for Skilled Migration (189/190/491) or Employer-Sponsored Visas (482/186), you must undergo an ACECQA skills assessment.
Eligible Occupation & Assessment Criteria
Early Childhood (Pre-primary School) Teacher (ANZSCO 241111)
- Qualification Requirements:A minimum of 4 years of higher education (either a relevant bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or a bachelor’s degree plus a graduate diploma in early childhood education).
- Course Requirements:the degree must cover 0-5 years of early childhood education.
- Practical Experience: completion of at least 45 days of supervised teaching practice in early childhood settings.
English Language Requirements: Only IELTS (Listening 8, Speaking 8, Reading 7, Writing 7 , valid for two years) will be accepted. Single-subject retakes are accepted.
Processing Time & Fees
- Application Confirmation: A confirmation letter will be issued within 10 working days after submission.
- Processing Time: Standard processing time is 60 days. Processing may take longer for complex cases or if additional documents are required.
- Assessment Fees (as per the latest official standards) : Initial Skills Assessment 1100 AUD Reassessment (e.g., additional documents) 990 AUD
Validity & Renewal
- Non-extendable
- Validity Period: the assessment is valid for 3 years from the date of approval.
- The outcome can be used for visa applications, early childhood teacher registration, and other relevant purposes.
- What if the Assessment Expires: if your skills assessment expires, you must submit a new application and provide updated documents. To avoid disruptions to your migration plans, it is advisable to apply for a visa within the validity period.
