407 Training Visa Overview
The 407 Training Visa is a temporary visa for overseas applicants who wish to come to Australia for short-term training. This visa is valid for up to 2 years and is designed for those participating in specific courses or programs related to training, higher education research, professional development, or professional training programs in Australia.The 407 visa allows the visa holder to engage in training and work related to the training program in Australia.
Additionally, the primary visa holder may sponsor eligible dependent family members to join them in Australia upon receiving the visa.
407 Visa Validity
- Duration: 2 years from the date of issuance.
- Extension: Not eligible for extension.
407 Training Visa Categories
Based on the type of training, the Australian 407 Training Visa is divided into three main categories:
Registered Occupational Training:：For applicants who need to undergo training related to their occupation to meet Australian registration, membership, or licensing requirements, such as nurses or accountants.
Skill Development Training:：For applicants with work experience in a nominated occupation, engaging in structured workplace training programs. (Refer to the 407 visa occupation list)
Overseas New Skill Training:Divided into the following three subcategories:：
- Overseas Qualifications- For students currently studying at foreign educational institutions who need to complete practical training or research to graduate. This allows up to 6 months of work-based training in Australia
- Government Supported-Occupational training supported by the Australian government or the applicant’s home country；
- Professional Development-Employers from overseas sending their managers or professionals to Australia for customized professional development courses.
407 Training Visa Application Requirements
- Age Requirement: Applicants must be 18 years or older.
- English Requirement: IELTS score of at least 4.5.
- Sponsorship Requirement: Must have a sponsor from an Australian-approved organization.
- Training Requirement: Applicants must participate in workplace or classroom training.
- Financial Requirement: Applicants must show they have sufficient funds to cover living expenses during their stay in Australia.
- Health and Character Requirements: Applicants must have Australian health insurance and pass a medical examination and police clearance.
- Visa Restrictions: Applicants inside Australia cannot hold a 403 visa, 771 visa, or special purpose visa when applying.
- Skill Development Training Requirement: Applicants for skill development training must have at least one year of relevant work experience in the last two years.
407 Training Visa Application Process
- Sponsorship Qualification: The Australian training institution or organization applies for sponsorship eligibility.
- Position Nomination: The Australian training institution or organization nominates the position.
- Visa Application: Submit the visa application.
- Health Examination and Other Requirements: Complete health checks and other required documentation.
- Visa Approval: Once the visa is approved, the main applicant can apply for their spouse and children to join them in Australia.
407 Training Visa Processing Time
- 75% of applications are processed in 53 days.
- 90% of applications are processed in 69 days.
407 Training Visa Application Fees
- Main applicant: AU $310.00
- Dependent applicants aged 18 or over: AU $310.00
- Dependent applicants under 18: AU $80.00
